du or Etisalat (e&): which VIP number?
Either way the number is registered in your name and the SIM is delivered to you. The differences are the prefixes, the lines the numbers come on, and how much rare stock each carrier has right now.
The prefixes
Etisalat (e&) numbers start 050, 054 or 056. du numbers start 052, 055 or 058. 050 is the oldest and the most asked-for prefix in the UAE.
| Prefix | Carrier | From |
|---|---|---|
| 050 | Etisalat (e&) | AED 2,250 |
| 054 | Etisalat (e&) | AED 2,450 |
| 056 | Etisalat (e&) | AED 4,800 |
| 052 | du | AED 5,250 |
| 055 | du | AED 1,800 |

The lines numbers come on
Etisalat (e&) sells special numbers in tiers. Its Wasel prepaid lines (Standard, Bronze and Premium) have no contract. Its Silver, Gold and Platinum numbers come with a monthly plan and a contract in your name, and Silver plus and Gold plus numbers are for UAE nationals only.
du's special numbers come on prepaid lines (Easy and Flexi) and with its postpaid plans.
Every number here shows its line, and any monthly plan, before you pay.
Which should you pick?
If the prefix matters most, 050 means Etisalat (e&). For the most pattern for the money, look at du's 052 and 058 and Etisalat (e&)'s 054. If you're a UAE national, Etisalat (e&)'s nationals-only tiers hold some numbers nobody else can get.
